Just came home from my Oil Painting class this morning and got some fries with American chip spice on them. First time in ages since I had it and it was lovely! 
And just eaten a bowl of Shreddies Fruitful.
Off to have a ready-meal lunch of Fish Pie shortly!

I think it's more likely to come from take-aways that have those skinny fries! My parents never sold any (they work in one too) but my local does, well the last time I went!

but something else confused me: thought you Brits call them "chips", but in your post you refer to them as "fries" like an American. Do you use both expressions in the UK?
Or is "fries" something completely different in the UK?
